Responsibilities:

As a Ecology Group Director and Practice Leader, the candidate will be expected to:

  • Provide technical leadership in the fields of biology, ecology and ecological risk assessment, including study design; client relationships; regulatory interaction; business development; and leadership of group of eight ecologists;
  • Develop positive relationships with existing clients and develop new clients;
  • Prepare proposals and design work plans in response to client needs;
  • Team building and leadership;
  • Provide supervision, training and mentoring of intermediate and junior staff;
  • Manage projects and tasks and deliver high quality reports on time and within budget;
  • Prepare and deliver presentations at meetings, conferences, seminars, and workshops;
  • Provide senior review of technical reports, proposals and communications; and
  • Be an active participant in the growth and success of the office.

Qualifications: 

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in biology, ecology, or related discipline;
  • Demonstrated capability to develop clients and have establish a practice;
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in the environmental consulting industry;
  • Experience with environmental permitting and technical report writing for environmental assessments and compliance to meet federal and state regulatory requirements, international environmental assessment experience a plus;
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing high quality service to clients within budget and time constraints, in a professional consulting environment;
  • Experience managing and coordinating multi-disciplinary consulting projects;
  • Excellent technical writing, communication and project management skills;
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills;
  • Demonstrated initiative and creative thinking skills;
  • Strong team player and ability to work within a multidisciplinary organization;
  • Detail oriented with emphasis on quality of work;
